Hi, I'm Lawrence Tijjani, founder of Just a Guy CIC, a social enterprise dedicated to helping young people reach their full potential through mentoring and workshops. I started Just a Guy CIC after suffering a severe epileptic attack 10 years ago, which left me needing to relearn how to walk. Now, I battle chronic pain daily while running two businesses and raising my amazing son.

Read Time: 3 minutes Happy Sunday 👋🏾 A couple of weeks ago, I got invited to an exclusive Apple event for small businesses. Now, when I got the email, I thought it was a scam. I was ready to hit delete. Turns out… it was real. Apple had been watching my content. Yes, my TikToks. It made me think back. When I first started sharing online, I wasn’t creating content that I truly believed in. I was just doing what everyone else was doing — what I thought people wanted to see. Jumping on trends. Trying to get noticed. But it didn’t feel right. So I stopped posting for a while. Then I asked myself a question: Why are you even doing this? What’s the point? And the simple answer was , to share my journey. Building a business. Navigating pain and epilepsy. Trying to be a present-day husband and dad. Just showing up the best way I can. Even when it’s messy. And if someone gets something from that? Great. My content hasn’t always been put together nicely or expertly edited. But it’s me. It’s real. And weirdly, the stuff that’s raw, just me talking straight to camera, is the content that performs best. Because it’s honest. It’s human. Don’t get it twisted, though. Every now and again, I second-guess what I’m putting out. Is this too personal? Should I even post this? Does anyone care? But then I’ll bump into someone who says they read the newsletter. Or I’ll get a message saying my last video helped them. Or someone just says, “Thanks for sharing.” That’s what it’s about for me. It’s not about 200,000 followers or whatever the number is. Because the stats don’t always show the real impact. If even one person takes something away that helps them — that’s it for me. That’s the goal. That’s how we leave the world a little better than we found it. (Some people might think that’s big-headed — but honestly, I think it’s our duty as human beings. I’ll talk more about that another time.) So... the Apple event. It was solid. They shared a few new tools they’re rolling out to help small businesses work smarter. Stuff like Tap to Pay — where you can take payments straight from your iPhone. And new features under Apple Intelligence to help with automation and AI support. But what stood out most was the people in the room. The chance to connect with other business owners. To talk honestly about the struggle of running a small business Everyone is trying to build something meaningful. From the ground up. I left that event with a fresh kind of energy. That go again energy. There was this one guy from Southeast London running a vegan doughnut business. And we’re already talking about ways we might collaborate, especially to give back to young people and share our stories. That’s the stuff that lights me up. Not just being in the room. But actually connecting. Now, yes, I’ve been talking about content. But really, this is about anything in life. Whatever your thing is, just keep showing up. Go again. Get up. Keep going. Because you never know who’s watching. It only takes one person to see something that changes your path. Quote of the WeekJust keep showing up Have a great week!
