Read Time: 3 minutes Happy Sunday 👋🏾, Ever put your heart into something and wondered if it was even working? You show up, work hard, and stay patient, but it still feels like nothing is happening. I learned that lesson again, this time, through my garden. Before you click out of this email, trust me, it's not all about grass. It’s about life, patience, and keeping the faith when you can't see the results yet. So please stick with me. lol Six weeks ago, I gave the grass its first cut of the season... and it didn't look good. It was patchy, sad, and tired. It looked a bit like me when I let my beard grow wild and hadn't shaved my head—you began to notice my bald patches. But before I even touched the grass, I watched loads of YouTube videos on "How to Save Your Lawn." I even ended up buying a few gadgets: a seed spreader, a device you attach to your shoes to help aerate the lawn, and a fresh batch of seeds from Lawn Pack on Instagram. You know how it goes. Armed with "knowledge", tools, and optimism, I got to work. My dad passed by and lent a hand — well, he supervised me. On the morning after, I went outside expecting to see some kind of miracle. I don’t know why — it wasn't realistic — but I guess I just wanted to see some sort of result as I'd put in so much hard work, and I wanted to see it straight away. I kept checking. Kept looking. Still, nothing. I started doubting myself. Maybe this isn't going to work. I even considered calling in a professional. (Imagine the grief I’d get from Sheri after convincing her we didn’t need to hire someone.) But I kept telling myself: trust the process. It's not going to happen overnight. After all, grass seeds usually take 7 to 21 days to germinate, depending on the conditions, and just like photosynthesis teaches us, a lot of growth is happening where you can't immediately see it. About three weeks in, I noticed the first blades breaking through. Tiny. Fragile. You had to look closely, but they were there. With that came a wave of relief. It’s working. There was pride, too. But then panic. I was about to go to Lisbon for five days. Who's going to water my grass? It’s funny how age creeps up on you like that. One minute you’re excited about your trip, the next you’re stressing over lawn care. Before I left, I soaked the grass for a solid two hours, hoping it would survive without me. When we got back from Lisbon, it was late, about 11:30 p.m. First thing I did? Straight to the back garden. Floodlights on. Eyes straining. And there it was. The grass had grown. Not perfectly. I couldn’t wait for morning to see it properly in the daylight. Because when you put that kind of work in, you want to see your rewards in clear daylight, and I also wanted to tell Sheri Lawrence, why are you sending me a newsletter about grass?!Because life is exactly the same. You can’t control everything. You can only control what you can:
You can't control when the results will come. You can't control exactly how they'll look. But you can control your consistency. You can control the love and attention you give. This is what faith looks like. Believing even when it seems like nothing is happening. Whether it’s health challenges, building a business, or working on yourself, the same rules apply. Progress is often happening underground long before you ever see it. The boring stuff matters. So my message this week? Keep watering your grass. Your time will come. Over to YouWhere in your life are you being asked to be patient right now? I'd love to hear about it. Hit reply and share if you feel like it. 🌱 Quote of the Week
